Terms of use
The rules, in plain language
Last updated October 17, 2026
1. Who we are
Holdscreen ("the app") is run by Canadian View Corp ("Can-view", "we", "us"), based in Cochrane, Alberta, Canada.
These terms are an agreement between you and Can-view. If you use the app for a company or client, you confirm you are allowed to accept these terms for them, and "you" includes them.
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to use the app.
2. Accepting these terms
You accept these terms by ticking the box and pressing Agree, or by using the app. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
We may update these terms. When we do, we'll change the date at the top and ask you to accept them again before you continue.
3. Your content
You keep ownership of everything you add: photos, logos, video clips and text ("your content").
You confirm that you own your content or have permission to use it this way. That includes sponsor and company logos, music or sound in clips, and photos or video of people, who should know they will be shown on screen.
You are responsible for your content and for how and where you show the videos you make. If someone makes a claim against us because of your content, you agree to cover our reasonable costs.
4. Where your files go
Photos, logos and clips you add are processed inside your own web browser to build your video. They are not uploaded to our servers unless you choose to save a design to your account.
If you have a pass and choose "Save to my account", the design and its photos, logos and clips are stored privately with our hosting provider so you can open them on any computer. Only you can open them. Each account has 500 MB of space. Saved designs are deleted when you delete them, and may be deleted after your plan ends.
Your designs are saved in this browser on this computer. Clearing your browser data, or using a different computer or browser, means they won't be there. Keep your own copies of anything important, including your exported videos.
When you use the AI backdrop maker, the description you type is sent to our image provider to create the picture, and we keep a copy of the description and the backdrop (see AI generated backdrops below). Don't type personal or confidential information into it.
5. What you can do with your videos
Videos you export are yours to play at your own events and your clients' events, including paid and commercial events, for as long as you like.
Our backdrops, frames, fonts and design elements are licensed to you only as part of the videos you make. You may not sell or share them on their own, or use them to build a competing product.
The sample sponsors, conference names and logos in our demo are made up. They are for trying the app only and must not be presented as real companies.
6. Things you must not do
Don't use the app to make anything unlawful, defamatory, hateful, sexually explicit, or that infringes someone else's rights.
Don't try to copy, reverse engineer, overload or break the app, get around any limits or watermarks, or access it with bots or scripts.
Don't create extra accounts to get more free AI backdrops.
We may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these rules.
7. Plans and payment
You can build and preview for free. Paid plans, such as the Single Video, Event Pass and Annual plan, show their price and what is included, including any AI backdrops, before you buy.
Event passes last for the time stated when you buy. When your plan ends, designs stored with your account may be deleted. Videos you already downloaded are yours to keep.
Refund terms will be shown at checkout. Prices are in Canadian dollars unless stated otherwise, plus applicable taxes.
8. AI generated backdrops
When you create a backdrop with our AI backdrop maker, you can use it in your videos as described above. You also give Can-view permission to keep, reuse, adapt and share that backdrop and the description you typed, for example as a template other customers can choose or in our own marketing, without payment to you.
We won't reuse a backdrop that shows a name, logo or other detail identifying you, your client or your event, and we never connect a reused backdrop to you.
Each free account includes one AI backdrop. Paid plans include a set number of AI backdrops, shown on our pricing page when you buy, counted from the day the plan starts. Unused AI backdrops end when the plan ends, don't carry over to another plan, and have no cash value. We may change how many future plans include, but that won't reduce a plan you have already bought.
AI backdrops are created automatically and may not be unique. Other people may get similar results. Check every backdrop before you use it and don't use one that resembles someone else's brand or artwork.
9. No guarantees
We work hard to make the app reliable, but it is provided "as is". We don't promise it will always be available, error free, or work with every browser, computer, screen or player.
Always play your exported video on the actual venue equipment well before the event. Check that logos, names and spelling are correct. You are responsible for checking your video before it is shown.
10. Limit of our responsibility
As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost business, lost sponsorship value, or costs from an event not going as planned.
As far as the law allows, our total responsibility to you for anything related to the app is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be excluded.
11. Ending your use
You can stop using the app at any time. We may change, pause or stop the app, or any feature, with reasonable notice where we can.
12. Law that applies and where disputes are heard
These terms, your use of the app, and any dispute about them are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, no matter where you live or where you use the app.
If you have a problem, please contact us first at stephen@can-view.com so we can try to sort it out. We'll reply within 30 days.
If a dispute can't be settled, you and Can-view agree that any court case will be started and heard only in the Alberta courts sitting in Cochrane, Alberta, or, if that court doesn't hear that kind of case, the nearest Alberta court that does. You and Can-view both accept the authority of those courts.
If you are a consumer and the law where you live gives you a right that can't be taken away, such as the right to bring a case in your own province or country, this section doesn't remove that right.
